Error Could not initialize plugin libnvidiavgxso for vGPU nvidiartxa6000

Hello,
i have a Terra Server 7200 G4 with rtxa6000 nvidia graphics card. I already installed ESX7 with the necessary graphic card drivers.
My problem now is that I get an Error message when I try to start one VM which uses the graphics card. Its the same with ever vGPU profile or VM. The Error message is:

Failed - Could not initialize plugin 'libnvidia-vgx.so' for vGPU 'nvidia_rtxa6000-2q'.

Errors
Could not initialize plugin 'libnvidia-vgx.so' for vGPU 'nvidia_rtxa6000-2q'.
Module 'DevicePowerOn' power on failed.
Failed to start the virtual machine.

I already tried to reinstall the drivers and with disabled ecc but nothing helps. It would be nice if someone could help me or give me some tipps on what i did/didn't do.
Have a great day everyone.
PS: When I activate passtrough and don't use a vGPU profile i get no errors and everything works fine.

I have checked the compatibility with Graphic cards as well as drivers. I did it multiple times with VMware Support and Terra Support (the ones we got the server from). The Grapic card and the Drivers are compatible

Thank for you quick response

Hi @mit-suedde,

PS: When I activate passtrough and don't use a vGPU profile i get no errors and everything works fine.

it sounds to me as if you are not using the correct driver.

For GPU virtualization / GPU partitioning to work, you have to use the GRID driver from Nvidia, because it simply won't work with the standard driver.
The Nvidia GRID driver is not free, but you can download a 90-day trial from Nvidia to test it.

Hello again,
We contacted Nvidia again and found out that display mode is activated.
To deactivate this we have to use a tool, unfortunately we also get an error “NO NVIDIA Display adapters found”.

Furthermore, we did not find our server as a certified server https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/data-center/resources/vgpu-certified-server ...

However, it should still work, maybe it's the BIOS settings, does anyone here know?

We have the mainboard Intel server barebone M50CYP2UR208

Thx for your reply
